Description Central Thickener Series EP-009.AC ®
The Ep-009 mechanic thickeners are used for the decanted solid’s concentration and liquid clarification.
It mainly consists in a tank (usually concrete) of circular plant with conic bottom with inclined towards the interior of the tank. Over it the mechanical equipment is assembled, which will be suitable for collecting the sludge for their evacuation.
The waste waters are feeded by its upper part to the feeding located at the center and in the upper part, submerged almost in its whole, the mission of this cylinder is to eliminate the possible turbulences in the entrance flow and gives a descendant direction to the liquid.
The decanted sludge towards the bottom of that equipment are dragged towards the cone. From that cone they will be evacuated, the clarified water of remains of solids overflows across the (saw tooth 90 º) to a pickup channel to continue the pertinent process.
Built up:
- Static walkway.
- Vertical axis and sweeping arms.

General characteristics:
Walkway.- Diametrically affixed, supports all the thickening assembly. Built in laminated steel profiles or concrete, handrails and frameworks incorporated, it is installed in the tank walls.
Vertical axis and sweeping arms.- Hanged from the control head and coordinated with it, built in tubular profile with its corresponding bridles and reinforcements, sweeping scrapers welded to the arms, neoprene sheets screwed with their reinforcement incorporated to the scraper, the whole construction of that equipment will be hot dip galvanized carbon steel or stainless steel.
Motor group.- Central powering formed by a engine driver group that attacks directly the main axis. It should be equipped with a restricting device for protection against possible overcharges.
The equipments are designed to reduce to minimum the noises of mechanic and aerodynamic origin, the operation can be continuous or sequential, as well.
Sludge pit sweeper.- Fixed in the lower part of the vertical axis by screws, it is of use for the clearing of the sludge pit and is built in laminated profiles and sheet metal with its correspondent reinforces, built in hot dip galvanized carbon steel or stainless steel.
Central feeding bell.- hanged from the metallic walkway or in concrete by threaded rods, wrapping the central vertical axis, it remains submerged almost completely in the liquid. Built in hot dip galvanized carbon steel or stainless steel.
Weir.- located in the upper part of the peripheral channel of pickup of the clarified waters, built in aluminum or stainless steel, with saw teeth cuts in order to make its regulation easier, its fixation will be made directly to the concrete works.
Introduction:
The arrival of the sludge that need to be thickened can be made below bottom, or across the upper part, in case there exists danger of piping obstruction. (Upper recommendation)
The evacuation of thickened sludge is performed, generally, by pipes located at the bottom. In some difficult cases, the sludge can be evacuated across the upper part.
It is very useful to dispose, of an access gallery under the bottom.
In general, thickeners with a central sludge ditch without scraper devices and which do not occupy more than a sector, must not be recommended, as well as those whose sludge extraction is performed from wells located in the periphery.
The operation of the thickened sludge extraction device, devices, can be automatic using a programmer or a concentration analyzer.

General Characteristics:
Walkway.- supported by an extreme in the central pivot and coordinated by the other with the motive car, built in carbon steel profiles, with metallic framework for walk by and handrail.
Prolongation walkway.- articulated assembly in the walkway, it supports one of the thickening arms which support a scraper assembly of thickening bottom piquet’s.
In one of its extremes, is located the coordinated conducted car, remaining together with the walkway, a diametral assembly.
Motorized car.- Of welded construction, it is formed by a driven wheel and another driver wheel, which is powered by a direct action engine drive.
Conducted car.- Of welded construction, it is formed by two driven wheels. It goes coordinated with the walkway extension assembly.
Central pivot.- Essentially constituted by a rolling of grand diameter, an articulate set where an extreme of the main walkway is supported, and the brush collector for electricity intake. Static group designed to support all kind of efforts that might provoke the small irregularities of the rolling way.
Bottom scrappers and suspension supports.- Neoprene scrappers built- in over hot dip galvanized carbon steel profiles and welded to the corresponding support frames. Two supports, one hanged from the main walkway and the other in the extension, shift the two scraper systems.
Movable thickening piquet.- Built in laminated steel profiles, they go secured to the scraper carrier (frame), therefore rotating with the bridge.
Deflector central bell.- Built in steel plate and reinforcement profiles, its objective is to calm the water distributing it by all the area.
PERIMETRAL PIQUET THICKENER
General Characteristics

Conducted car.- of welded construction, it is constituted by two conducted wheels. Goes coordinated with the walkway prolongation assembly.
Central pivot.- Essentially constituted by a rolling of grand diameter, an articulated set where an extreme of the main walkway is supported, and the brush collector for the electrical outlet. Fixed assembly designed to support all kind of efforts, which may provoke the small irregularities of the rolling road
